Thanks CW, for copying that over. As I've put in the other thread. I repeatedly confirmed over the phone and each time they said yes then I got there and theey all said oooo dunno about that. Never the less I did jump out of a palne and I did do a pretty spectacular landing! So I still count it as mission accomplished.
Anyway no taking the piss haha I still threw myself out of the side of a plane. They didn't even have to push me :P

Awesome, wasn't sure whether anyone else had jumped. I think I might do another soon. It does get addictive. I wanted to go back up as soon as I landed haha

Well I'm jealous, I'd love to do a jump but I doubt I'd ever get around to oragnising it myself. Maybe we could do a mass CIA jump, all the FJ, US & Brit airborne to make sure we've all earned our wings (well a little bit anyway). 8)

Incidentally why does the US section always have a gay dating banner at the top when ever I look at it? :ghey:

Banners are personalised individually to the user, not according to forum or thread.

I daren't do a para jump - it's not that I'm scared of jumping but I am scared of getting hooked to another wallet-emptying hobby!

I loved it, and raised about 600 pouds for Leukaemia Care. I did go up again the same day, and it was really terrifying , much more scary than the first jump which was a peice of cake. This is apparently normal -something to do with the bit of your brain which does fear knowing what's coming next.

On the 2nd go the instructors almost killed me and my friend by getting our radio channels mixed up and giving us each other's instructions I ended up in landing up-wind in a ploughed field  and Rich missed the burger van by a few feet.

Apart from that, they were very professional and appologised very profusely for endangering our lives with their incompetence.

Still, I'm glad i did it and I can't say it put me off, but that was a couple of years ago and I don't think the doc wil sign me off again - he was reluctant because of my bad back, and now I'm over forty (all parachutists need a new medical cert at 40) I can't see him going for it. :(

Yeh I heard that, but I literally flung myself out the first time, not remotely scared so...well anyway we'll find out when I do my next one!

military parachuting isnt that great to be honest, its designed to get you on the ground as quick as possible( your very vulnerable up in the sky)and so with all that kit you drop line a stone, usually from between 400- 700 hundred feet. sometimes you get just a few minuets in the air, and you land like a whale dropped from a great hight. everyone thinks paratroopers have no teeth due to fighting and brawling,,,,,,, its mostly due to your gear or knees smaking you in the chops on landing lol . sport sky diving is much less brutal on the bones lol.
